LONELY Planet has revealed its top ten best-value places to visit in the world for 2019.
Its annual Best in Travel Awards are the cream of the crop of exciting, beautiful places to visit around the globe – and its best-value category is good for wannabe adventurers on a budget.
The good news is that some of the winners from the awards aren’t that far from home – and even better is that there are affordable ways to get there, too.
Read on for the ultimate list of cheap holiday destinations for next year, alongside suggestions from Skyscanner on how to get there and where to stay.
1. Southern Nile Valley, Egypt
Egypt has been named in first place on the list – mostly due to its huge amount of historical sites such as the pyramids and temples – and how cheap they are to visit for tourists.
The publication said: “If you’re on a cruise, food and land transport will be included; otherwise it’s easy to make inexpensive arrangements for all but a handful of big-ticket temples and tombs, which are more than worth the admission price themselves.”
